A pair of anodised aluminium 12-gauge snap caps, also handy for releasing the springs of a double-barrel or over-and-under gun before storage. Snap caps (dummy rounds) are inert training cartridges with no primer, powder or projectile. They are used to practise loading and unloading, to safely release the hammer or striker when dry firing, and to check that a firearm feeds, chambers and extracts properly without live ammunition. A snap cap is designed to take the firing pin's strike, which protects firing pins that can be damaged by repeated dry firing on an empty chamber. Always treat every firearm as loaded, and keep snap caps clearly separate from live rounds. These are made for 12-gauge shotguns and come as a pair.
