The Spyderco Retract, designed by custom knifemaker and bladesmith Ed Schempp, is a folding knife built around a dramatically curved, full-flat-ground blade reminiscent of a Nepalese kukri. The negative angle of the 86 mm 9Cr18MoV stainless blade greatly improves cutting leverage, especially on draw cuts through rope, cord, cardboard and food. The handle uses full skeletonised stainless steel liners, peel-ply-textured black G-10 scales and a partial G-10 backspacer. The stout liners form a LinerLock that is machined nearly flush to prevent unintentional closing. A lined lanyard hole and a deep-pocket wire clip, reversible for left or right-side tip-up carry, keep it discreet in the pocket.
