How It Works: *The wire is a hollow tube filled with powdered flux and deoxidizers. *As the arc melts the wire, the flux vaporizes to create its own internal gas shield protecting the molten weld pool. *It leaves behind a layer of protective slag on top of the finished weld bead that must be chipped or brushed off after cooling.
