A set of two Ultratec MS6908 rechargeable LED lanterns, each giving up to 800 lumens from 24 warm-white LEDs, packed in a nylon carry bag. Warm white light is softer on the eyes than cold blue-white, which makes it pleasant for a lounge during load shedding or a campsite at night. Each lantern runs on a long-life lithium battery (the supplier gives 5Ah; retail listings say 5,500 mAh), has high and low settings and doubles as a power bank to charge a cellphone. They charge by USB using a cable stored inside the unit, or from the Ultratec MS1039-SP solar panel (sold separately). An auto-on feature switches the lantern on when the mains power fails, so it can stand ready as emergency lighting. Ultratec quotes over 10,000 hours of LED life and up to 50 hours of runtime.
